On Saturday, October 29, Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center was the first stop on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services nationwide #VAXUPAMERICA Family Vaccine Tour. Almost 200 people showed up at Mount Vernon’s Fall Health Fair & Vax Clinic event to be vaccinated. In addition to receiving health information, screenings, and vaccinations, families enjoyed fun activities, such as face painting, a magician, and music, and received pumpkins to take home.
The #VAXUPAMERICA Family Vaccine Tour is one of President Biden’s recently announced nationwide initiatives to encourage people to get the updated COVID-19 vaccine before this year’s holiday season. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched a public education campaign, #VAXUPAMERICA Family Vaccine Tour, to reach high-risk Americans, especially seniors, by working with community health centers across the country.
