Website Privacy Policy

Protecting your privacy is very important to us while you are using our website.

Please review our website privacy policy to learn what personal data Westchester Community Health Center (WCHC) collects from website users, how we protect it, and how users can control the information we receive.

What information do you collect through your website?

We collect personal data from you directly or indirectly from third-party processors. The personal data we collect enables us to fulfill our mission, find new employees, promote our organization, or fundraise. We do not collect from you any information that we do not need. We will not sell, trade, rent, or distribute contact information or personal data to any third parties.

The personal data we collect is as follows:

  • Enews Sign-Up
When you choose to use our website to sign-up to receive email news from us, you submit to us your full name and your email address. This information is not stored on our website servers but is instead forwarded to MailChimp. Mailchimp is a third-party email marketing service that we use for email marketing campaigns. Your name and email address are stored at MailChimp and will remain there while we use their services or until you request removal from our list. You can choose to “unsubscribe” at any time by following the link at the bottom of every email you receive from us.
  • Patient Portal Account Sign-Up
Existing patients can choose to use our website’s Patient Portal Sign Up Request form to have a new Patient Portal account set up for them. To set up the account, we request that the patient submit their name, date of birth, and email address on the form. Information is transmitted to us in an encrypted format and then forwarded to WCHC’s Health Information Management Department via an SSL-activated email.
  • Job Position Application
If you choose to apply for a position with WCHC through our online application form, you provide personally identifiable information which is required for us to verify your employment qualifications. Such information includes your first and last name, physical address, email address, and copies of your resume or CV. We use the information we provided to do required background checks and education and employment verification, including your employment status, as required by law or WCHC policy.

Collected application data is transmitted to us through encryption and housed and stored on secure servers which host our website. WCHC does not sell or share personal information related to employment applications except as necessary to process the application, to conduct the required background checks and education and employment verification, or as necessary to comply with legal obligations.

Do you use cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on a user’s computer and that the user’s browser provides to the website each time the user returns. Cookies provide user information to the website owner and customization to the user based on their previous activity with the website.

Our website uses Google Analytics, a free third-party service that transmits website traffic data to Google servers in the United States. When a visitor uses the WCHC website, a first-party Google Analytics tracking code collects user data using a browser cookie placed on the user’s computer. Google Analytics tracks website and web page usage and does not identify individual user information or associate user’s IP address with any other data held by Google.

We use Google Analytics data to monitor our website performance and enhance the user experience of our website. Please use this browser blocking guide to restrict or remove cookies from being stored on your device.

How do you store your data?

We use several security measures and protocols to protect your data. No website or electronic data is 100% secure, however, but we always are working to keep our website secure and updated with the latest security features.

  • Website
Our website is built on a free content management software called WordPress. We use a select group of well-supported and premium third-party plugins to enhance our user’s website experience, add functionality, provide and collect information, and secure our WordPress files. Our website software is regularly updated by a web professional.

SiteGround hosts our website, is SSL-protected and encrypted, and contains advanced security measures. Our staff and website professionals use password authentication safeguards, and their IP addresses are whitelisted to access our domain.
  • Database
Job application data and patient portal sign-up data are stored in a database on our server. We follow web security recommendations to limit our database vulnerability and employ a server-side firewall to protect our website.
  • Third-Parties
Some of the information we collect is transmitted to and processed by third parties via SSL/TLS and/or stored at a third-party location. We use the following third parties to help us with our data collection:

Google – website analytics (privacy policy)
Mailchimp – email marketing service (privacy policy)
DonorBox – We use DonorBox to process our donations. We do not store any payment information on our server. (privacy policy)
