PICHC is all about healthy moms, babies, and children.

The Perinatal and Infant Community Health Collaborative (PICHC) Program is a home visiting program for pregnant, new mothers, families, and women who want to get pregnant. Through the program, women ages 15 to 44 years can get the health care they need and be connected to valuable services and resources.

The Mothers, Infant, and Child Health Collaborative (the MICHC Program) is an outreach program for pregnant, new, and young mothers in the community ages 15 to 44 years old.

What kinds of things can a PICHC Community Worker help me with?

Our PICHC Community Health Worker can help you take control of your health, mind, body, and living situation. They can help you:

  • Enroll in health insurance and find a physician to care for you, your new baby, and other children in the family
  • Connect to free food programs, such as the WIC Program
  • Learn ways to keep your baby safe with educational programs such as Safe Sleep and SIDS Prevention
  • Enroll in Lamaze Natural Childbirth Classes
  • Connect to social services you might need such as housing, food pantries, or domestic violence programs
  • Get started and/or be successful with breastfeeding
  • Obtain free STD/STI or HIV Testing
  • Build parenting skills with such in-person or virtual classes as Financial Literacy, Baby Basics, Parenting Journey
  • Be referred to our behavioral counseling services to speak with professionals about mental needs help and family concerns
  • Get you connected to a substance abuse program in your community
  • It’s about you!

Need Diapers, Formula, or other Baby Essentials?

Our WIC Program can provide free formula and nutritious food to eligible new moms and young families. A PICHC Community Worker can also get you in touch with a Diaper Bank and other local resources.

We can get you connected to Birth and Postpartum Doulas

A doula is a professional who supports moms and their partners before, during, and after childbirth. They can be by your side during labor and provide physical and emotional support after childbirth. They can help care for a baby while a mother heals, provide practical advice on breastfeeding, help with meal preparation, run errands, or assist in lots of other ways that help to make the transition to motherhood easier.

To find out about our doula program, please contact Victoria Henry at pichc@wchchealth.org.

PICHC services are free to all women of reproductive ages and their families. We serve Mount Vernon (zip code: 10550 and 10552), Yonkers (zip codes: 10701, 10703, and 10705), and New Rochelle (zip code 10801 and 10805). Immigration or insurance status is not a problem. Our services are private, free, and confidential.
