Last Wednesday, a sell-out crowd of over 500 people gathered at the Glen Harbor Club in New Rochelle to joyfully celebrate Westchester Community Health Center’s 50 years of providing the community with high-quality, comprehensive, and affordable healthcare. Amid sparkling lights and a glittering crowd of supporters and friends, WCHC paid tribute to those who have gone before for their vision and hard work, including co-founders the late Carole J. Morris and David Ford. Special friends – Louie Lanza, Rev. Dr. Stephen W. Pogue, Dr. Bruce Roseman, and Dr. Nora Haddad Farkouh – were honored for their long-time support of the organization. Current medical providers and staff were acknowledged for their ongoing dedication and professionalism in providing exemplary care to our patients.
Dignitaries were on hand to pay tribute, including the Hon. Shawyn Patterson-Howard, Mayor of Mount Vernon; Paul Feiner, Supervisor of Greenburgh; Assemblyman Gary Pretlow, Ken Jenkens, Westchester Deputy County Executive; Lisa Copeland, Mount Vernon City Councilwoman; Legislator Ben Boykin, Westchester County Board of Legislators; Legislator MaryJane Shimsky, New York State Assemblywoman; Councilman Derrick Thompson, City of Mount Vernon; Tyrae Woodson-Samuels, Westchester County Legislator; Lisa Copeland, Mount Vernon City Councilwoman; and Andre Wallace and Ernie Davis, former Mount Vernon Mayors. Also in attendance was the John H. Paxton Chorale of the Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church, who inspired the crowd with their beautiful gospel singing.
