X-Ray Technician

Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the X-Ray Technician performs procedures with various machines to obtain and develop X-ray pictures useful for diagnosis. Administers or assistants in therapeutic procedures under direct supervision.

Essential Duties:

  • Positions patients in preparations for x-rays.
  • Takes x-rays for diagnostic purposes.
  • Develops or supervises the development of X-ray films.
  • Administer X-ray therapy to patients under specific instructions.
  • Records procedures and any appropriate observations on patients’ conditions.
  • Inspects and performs minor cleaning tasks on equipment and minor repairs.
  • File x-rays and reports in the patient’s x-ray jacket.
  • Check inventory and inspection of the department for the present status of equipment and supplies.
  • Chart technique standards for equipment.
  • Liaison between Administration and Radiologist.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school and completion of an approved two-year course in X-Ray Technology; or the equivalent of such a course of study as determined by the New York State Department of Health; or the equivalent of such a course of study in a college as determined by the New York State Department of Education.
  • Thorough knowledge of techniques of radiology; good knowledge of radiographic and related equipment.
  • Good knowledge of the human anatomy.
  • Familiarity with the techniques of radiology therapy.
  • Skill in the application of the techniques of radiology and therapy.
  • Ability to operate and make minor repairs on x-ray-producing equipment.
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to function well in emergency situations.
  • Ability to get along with patients.
  • Thoroughness, reliability, good judgment, initiative, adaptability, and ability to communicate with others.

Pay: $52,780 per year
