Frequently-asked questions

Do I have to be a Westchester Community Health Center patient to get an immigration physical?

No, we provide immigration physicals to our patients and the general public.

How much does an immigration physical cost?

Our immigration physical costs $400.

What’s involved with an immigration physical and how long does it take?

Immigration physicals are extensive and include a physical examination, a chest x-ray (only required if there is a positive skin test for tuberculosis), blood work, and a mental status exam. If you do not provide proof of having had the required vaccinations, those vaccines will also be administered during the examination.

All in, the immigration physical can take up to one hour.

What do I need to bring to my immigration physical exam?

  • Valid passport or other government-issued photo identification
  • Vaccination records, if available
  • List of medications (if you are being treated for a chronic medical condition or taking medications on a regular basis)
  • If anyone in your family is immigrating with learning disabilities, a report of the condition and any special education or supervision requirements
  • If you have had a positive skin test for tuberculosis, a Tuberculosis Certificate from your doctor proving that you were adequately treated
  • If you have had syphilis, a certificate of clearance signed by a doctor or public health official, proving that you were adequately treated
  • If you have a history of harmful or violent behavior resulting in injury to people or animals, information that will allow the doctor to determine whether the behavior was related to a psychiatric or medical problem, or to drug or alcohol use
  • If you have been treated or hospitalized for psychiatric or mental illness, or alcohol or drug abuse, written certification including the diagnosis, length of treatment, and your prognosis

How do I make an appointment?

Select a location offering immigration physicals that is most convenient for you and then call to schedule an appointment.
