How to Be Your Best Self-Advocate in Your Cancer Care and Survivorship

September 12 @ 5:30 pm

A Free In-Person Educational Program for Patients, Survivors, and Caregivers

Shared Decision-Making. What does that mean? And how do we get there? Following a blood cancer diagnosis, patients often feel that their opinions don’t matter or won’t be taken seriously in a healthcare setting.

We hope you’ll join us for this program as we will discuss the history of healthcare disparities within Black and Hispanic communities and why that has led to mistrust in the medical system. You will hear personal stories from blood cancer patients and caregivers in the community about navigating the medical system.

This presentation and conversation will provide you with tangible tools and resources on how to become your own self-advocate and active participant in your healthcare decisions. Gain the confidence you need to get the resources and care necessary for you to live your healthiest life!

Featured Speakers: Traci Furbert Gardner, MD, and Yvonne Marie McKitty, RN
