If you receive SNAP (food assistance) or Medicaid, you may have already received — or soon will receive — a notice about re-certifying your eligibility. That’s because starting November 1, 2025, the federal government is changing work and age requirements for adults between 18 and 64 who do not have children under 14 and are able to work.
These new rules mean that some people will need to complete paperwork or provide additional information to keep their benefits active. This may include:
- Confirming your income, household size, or work status
- Showing proof that you are working, looking for work, or participating in a training program
- Updating your address or contact information so you don’t miss future notices
